Wildfox Summer 2009. J'adore this!!!

I absolutly adore this catalogue by Wildfox, and it is definitly one of my all time favourites i have ever seen. Taking influence from Chanel in the font and usage of numbers, but adding a more urban, younger feel with a polaroid style picture. I especially love no. 25 breaking the rules, and how it is the only page to have the white strip go vertically, breaking the rules of the layout of the book. The overall feel is very kitsch, fun and entertaining to both look at and read. An absolute favourite. x x x x

Wildfox 2008. Lookbook Inspiration

I found these images hugely inspirational for lookbook idea's that i could use next year for my uni projects. I love the front cover of this summer 2008 catalogue as it really sets the scene for what to expect within the book, its given us the idea that we're going to get to experience 'that summer' through images and text when we open the booklet. It also entices people in to take notice of the booklet more by not keeping the text alligned and letting words seperate and run onto different lines, therefore making you stop and pay more attention to fully read it! Again, the bold text vs. the bleached image, makes a good combination, compared if the image was the same boldness, overall it would be too much, and we may not be as drawn into the text as much.
The last page is a lovely way to end the book, with a sunset background to symbolise the end of the catalogue and a lovely, and simple statement to leave us with a happy feeling.

Wildfox 2008 Spring.

I found these images from Wildfox's collection for spring 2008. I love the bold, statement lines placed next to the soft, summer image. Without the text on these images, i think they could easily be skipped past, and not as much attention paid to the collection; therefore proving text can be that finishing touch that a lookbook needs to attract the attention of the viewer. The text in these images instantly gives the overall look a quirky, more modern feel.
The top images where the text is faded more into the background is ideal to compliment the soft, sun faded image, and provides a more romantic, soft appearance compared to Wildfox's other garments in the collection. I would love the 2nd image from the top to be printed A1 size for me to frame in a vintage silver frame to hang in my bedroom. (v)

Daisy Chains

I adore Peaches tattoo and Viktors face painting of a similar pattern on his models leg.

I would love to consider a design similar to this for my thigh, raising right up to my mid waist :)

Viktor Vauthier

After taking a peek at his blog, i find his photographs very inspirational and original, and quickly became addicted to viewing more and more of his shoots. His photos are kept fresh, innocent and untouched, the natural lighting used gives the overall look of the image a more quirky finishing look.
Check him out for yourself here http://viktorvautier.blogspot.com/

No spells abound, Emma Watson is the new face of Chanel

After being seen wearing Chanel to every Harry Potter screening on the red carpet, she has now been confirmed as the new and upcoming face of Chanel, reporting to earn around $4million from the signing of the contract, with the star having the magical chance to have access to all the priceless Chanel collections!!

With Emma bringing a fresh and more down to earth face to the star name, and Chanel's new film 'Coco before Chanel' being released this week, Chanel's name is going to be echoed around the world.

Chocks Away by Tim Walker

This photoshoot named 'Chocks Away' featured in Vogue Italia, featuring model Lily Donaldson. What i adore about this shoot is how Walker has captured the 1940's war atmosphere in his photos with the use of dusky colours, and fascinating props, as he always includes. I'm a big fan of 1940's style photographs, after just completing a uni project on the era. I love vintage styled photographs, and how the lighting is used in these photos to create that bleached, smudged, worn effect to the overall image. I find these images much more attractive and beautifully gentle to look at, rather that harsh, full colour images.

Vogue Italia Patterns

I found these stunning images from Vogue Italia by photographer Steven Meisel. I think they're magnificently beautiful, and the mixture of pattern and illustration is balanced perfectly to give the overall image that hand made feel. The washed out use of limited complementary colours used within each image gives them each their own vintage look appeal. Having been heavily influenced by these copies, i'm going to try and re-create my own Vogue front cover using a similar technique.
